Getting Started with Kong Mesh

Kong Mesh — built on top of CNCF’s Kuma and Envoy — tries to be as close as possible to the usage of Kuma itself, while providing drop-in binary replacements for both the control plane and data plane executables.

You can download the Kong Mesh binaries from the official installation page, then follow Kuma’s official documentation to start using the product.

Kuma, a donated CNCF project, was originally created by Kong, which is currently maintaining both the project and the documentation.

1. Installing Kong Mesh

Download and install Kong Mesh from the official installation page.

2. Getting started

After you install, follow the getting started guides to get Kong Mesh up and running.

The Kuma quickstart documentation is fully compatible with Kong Mesh, except that you are running Kong Mesh containers instead of Kuma containers:

  • Getting started with Kubernetes
  • Getting started with Universal

  • Support for HashiCorp Vault CA
  • Support for Amazon Certificate Manager Private CA
